PYGEUM BARK
Also known as the African Plum Tree, African Prune, Ciruelo Africano and Amanda Amere, it is used to alleviate the discomfort caused by inflammation in patients suffering from benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate). Numerous human studies have shown Pygeum to significantly reduce urinary hesitancy, urinary frequency, the number of times needed to wake during the night to urinate, and pain during urination. However, Pygeum does not seem to reduce the size of the prostate gland or reverse the process of BPH. Usually taken in conjunction with Saw Palmetto, limited if any side effects are seen, and most find welcomed relief from bothersome symptoms.
The recommended dose is 1-3 capsules taken in the evening.
